Flatlined...

Distance: 8km
Time: 36:37

I normally run with my Garmin 410 GPS watch which came with a hart rate monitor. According to the data from tonight's run I am either really good at this running lark and can do it at 70bpm or I have a hear problem. In reality the heart rate monitor fell off, and not for the first time. It isn't easy to try and re-attach while running so tonight I carried it hence the odd readings.

I'm not entirely sure what the point in the HRM is, the deal I got on Amazon included one and was better value that the model without so it was a bit of a no brainer. I wear it more because I've paid for it more than the fact I use the data (the geek in me says I should) or try to train my heart in certain "zones", something else I don't really understand. So, I'm at the point now of if I don't need it and it's a pain to have with me then I should stop using it. Other people have said similar things to me about their HRM's and "dead runs" so I think next time I go out I'll leave it on the shelf.

Sunday sees me back in race action in the Salford City 10k a nice flat run the looks like it spends most of it's time in Trafford, not Salford. Some would say that's safer! I'm looking forward to running closer to home though ironically I'll have less "groupies" at this run. To be honest I felt a lot more excited about the Great Yorkshire Run than I do about this one. I think that's a combination of it being my first race and there being 6,000 runners there. Sure I'll enjoy Salford but there is not that "edge" about it.

I'm told that it's a good pb course so I'm hopeful of doing a better time than Sunday in the heat and up the hills. Looking at the weather forecast it's looking like another cracking day on Sunday. Who'd have thought two Sunday's running in September would have 20 + degree weather?
