It was a foggy morning up at Alexandra Park today. There were a few jokes that some good pb's would be had by cutting parts of the course out and nobody would see. That and new runners might run off into the murk never to be heard from again!
It did look good pb weather; not too hot, not too cold with little wind and no rain.
I wasn't aiming for anything special today as I've got the Salford City 10k tomorrow morning so just getting round and enjoying myself was the main thing.
It was good to see a number of younger runners lining up on the start line today; maybe the Olympics has had an impact. I wonder if any will be lining up for the Rio parkrun in 2016?
Set off at what for me was a blistering pace before settling down into the run and sticking to my usual pace. As I cam down the hill on to the finishing straight I put on my usual burst of speed and passed a couple of people before coming alongside a lad who seeing me put on his own burst, another from me brought me back alongside but another from him I couldn't match. Even so it was a good way to finish the run - we had a good laugh at it and a handshake after. That's what parkrun is all about.
Distance: 6.08k
Time: 30:31
Ran home from parkrun, but I got lost again. Thought I was taking a shortcut and ended up going round in a circle. Oh well, made the run up to 6k :)
On to Salford City 10k tomorrow. Race report and pics to follow tomorrow.
