Yet Another parkrun pb!!

Distance: 5km
Time: 22:12 (pb)

Well I didn't see that coming!

After feeling a bit rotten last night I put it behind me and went out to enjoy my 6th parkrun.

It was a bit of a dull morning, but as always on a Saturday at 9am the parkrun weather fairies pulled through and the sun was shining as we set off. I had a slight user error with my Garmin; the first time I looked at it it was showing the strength of the gps signal. Couple of button presses later it turns out I haven't stared the timer!! Started it about 400-500 meters in.

From then on, not really having much of an idea what time I was doing I settled into the run and enjoyed it, but I'll be honest coming through the woodland walk at the end was HARD, and as I turned for the home straight I was just going to be happy to finish. Still did a sprint finish (or as sprint as I could manage!) But had no idea of my time once I'd crossed the line.

Being sad I ran the extra 400 meters to make the Garmin up to 5k, this gave me an idea my time was good but I didn't think I'd have knocked another 30 seconds off my pb!

Glad I started parkrunning, nice to meet some other runners. It's a fantastic idea and all it asks of its runners is that they help out once every so often. I'm not running the day before the Great Yorkshire Run, but I'll still be at parkrun volunteering - Saturday just isn't Saturday without parkrun!
