Distance 5.51km
Time: 30:28
I'd set off on a long slow run this morning which I'd hoped would build my stamina up.
All was going well, the sun was shining I was enjoying my run when my knee started hurting. I stopped a couple of times and did some stretching but after carrying on for a few minuets going down hill it was getting quite painful to run.
Now normally I'd be stubborn and try to run through it, and had it happened while running the race in Sheffield I'm sure I would have. But today I thought the best thing I could do was pull up, call it a day and give the knee a rest. It's a good job I carry my bus ticket with me as I was about 4k from home. Got on a bus and came home.
I don't think there is anything seriously wrong with the knee, but being so close (4 weeks) to the first race I wasn't taking any chances; better to rest it today than not be able to run on it tomorrow. I'll rest up tomorrow go for a gentle run on it on Tuesday and see how it goes. Until then I'll be digging the yoga and stretches out to keep me going....
