Its has not stopped raining in Manchester for two days, add a bit of wind sending said rain in all directions, this mix equals an awful day. Not going to stop me heading out for a run, especially as I'm off work so have the time to get a few kilometres down.
I didn't blog about this last week, but while out this time last week in the chilly wind and rain in just a pair of shorts and t-shirt parts of me were more exposed to the elements than I really liked, we'll say no more. I've invested in a pair of running tights which I'm told can be worn on their own but personally they look obscene so I stick a pair of shorts over them. However it was still short sleeved t-shirt all the way.
Heading out in my tights I did feel a little like I was dressed up as Superman or Batman - all I needed was a cape!
Running in this weather I got a few looks of people, most of whom were trying to avoid being out in the rain while hiding under umbrellas in their coats. There's me going past in gloves (yes, gloves that wind is cold) a t-shirt, shorts and my Superman tights. Maybe I'm mad, or maybe I enjoy running that much I'm not going to let the weather stop me. Not sure how I'll run in the ice and snow come winter but I'm sure I'll find a way...
Running in the rain doesn't bother me, once I've got going and am wet I don't normally feel it. But today just over half way round it was starting to feel miserable. Wasn't going to stop me though, the way I was thinking about it was; if it was race day I'd have to be out in it so I might as well get used to it.
My only complaint was I couldn't find my Vaseline this morning so ended up with some nip chafing - my job for tomorrow is to find that tub ASAP!!!
In other news I received a really nice e-mail from Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research today thanking me for my efforts during September. It's good to know the work I've done is appreciated. Obviously it would all be for nothing if people hadn't sponsored me so a big thanks to everybody who donated. I'm going to be running the Great Manchester Run for LLR in May next year and am hoping to have an interesting spin on sponsorship set up for then and maybe you can win some money while helping me raise so more money.
