Zen Running

Distance: 10k
Time: 49:07

Tonight's run wasn't about speed or split times or anything like that. I just went out for a run to chill out and enjoy myself. Over at Runners Forum there is a thread about "Running Zen" or running with a clear mind. I think I manged that tonight; I may have still had my iPod playing but couldn't tell you what was playing at any point, and I had a clear mind, granted some would say that's a permanent state for me! I wonder if the yoga I've been doing has helped me clear my mind? As long as I don't start doing yoga positions while I run I should be okay!

It did make a nice chance not thinking of anything while running, but it did make writing this a challenge as I normally think about what I'm going to blog about while I'm out. If I carry on like this there will be little to blog about...

Only a couple of days to go until the Great Yorkshire Run in Sheffield, I'm not running on Saturday as I'm helping out at parkrun and after having ran tonight I've only really got Friday night to do anymore training. The only question is to train or not? Part of me thinks I should rest before the big day, but the other part of me thinks that I've been running further than 10k over the past few Sundays so doing 10k this week shouldn't be a problem. I get the feeling that it won't make much of a difference as I'll want to go for a run, because let's face it - I enjoy it so why not?
