Another parkrun, another pb! They can't keep coming, can they?
As I set out for my now regular Saturday morning parkrun the sun was shining, but it wasn't too hot (or too windy) - perfect parkrun pb weather. It started to look a bit gloomy as we got ready to set off, but it never rains at 9am on a Saturday morning.
I started far too quickly with a 4:03km which is good, but not for the first km, the last yes, but not the first :) Managed to keep a good pace up (see deails beow from the Garmin). As I started the third lap Simon shouted to me "keep this up and you are on for a 21:30" that was all the motivation I needed to keep the pace on! Once again the Woodland Walk was nearly my undoing, the steps upset the rhythm I've built up and the change of terrain gets me every time, but I am getting better at it, the first time I ever ran parkrun it was hell on earth; now just hell :)
Coming down onto the finishing straight I saw a yellow shirt being waved in the air - Nigel had broken then 20 min mark! That spured me on again (after a quick wave in celebration).
I never thought after breaking the 21 min barrier last week I'd be able to improve on it and by so much in just a week. I'm think the combination of longer runs on a Sunday and getting used to the Oldham parkrun course have helped no end. When I first started running 5k was some huge big distance I needed to train and plan to get to. Now I don't think I'd go out and do less than 5k on a run - hardly seems worth putting my running kit on for! How a few months change things.

Raced the bus home, it passed me with two stops to go. Who needs public transport!
