An Introduction

So this being my first post I thought I'd do the whole "Who, Where & Why" thing.

I'm Dan and I'm 33. I've been running for about 6 weeks as I type this. What made me start? Well I saw loads of people from work do the Great Manchester Run and raise a good few thousand pounds for charity and have a good time while at it. I never thought you could have a good time while running but I wanted to do something for charity for a long time so thought this could be a good way to start. That and it'll get me off the couch and get me some exercise!

So I went out for a run one night after work (with the dog - never again!) Enjoyed it despite being knackered and started looking into how I could improve and connect with more people.

I joined a great forum (www.runnersforum.co.uk) where I have met lots of really great friendly people who have all helped in their own way. More on them later.

My long term aim is to complete the Great Manchester Run in May 2012 - that may sound like a long time off, but to get myself ready I'll be running the Great Yorkshire Run on 2nd September (thanks Mandy for convincing me to go for it!)

I'll also be blogging about the charity I'll be running for and a bit about why I've chosen that one. Hopefully you'll all see the hard work I'm putting in over the autum/winter (well let's face it there is no summer this year!) And what good work the charity I want to support does and you'll dig deep to support it come May (and maybe before if you can!)
