Runner in a Tutu?

A few weeks ago I posted about the challenges faces by runners trying to raise sponsorship for their chosen charity. As part of that I found out about the excellent Pledgeit site.

It was inevitable that I would end up being challenged and it was Jan who took it upon herself to set one.

So what is it? Running really fast, or doing a really, really long run?

No.

I've got to run the Great Manchester Run dressed as a Leukaemia Research Fairy. Complete with tutu, and yellow wings.  "Fancy dress, not much of a challenge!" I hear you cry. Well, think about it this way I have to travel to and from the race in the costume and since I'm going for a meal after that will be interesting. There will be tens of thousands of runners at the event together with their friends and families. Not forgetting the race is LIVE on BBC One, but not just to the UK; as an IAAF Gold Label event it must be broadcast to a minimum of five countries . So the challenge is more than just dressing up there is potential for embarrassment on an international scale!

How do you get involved and make sure I'm out there looking like a prat? Couldn't be easier. Head over to my Pledgeit page and hit the red "Pledge Now" button. Remember, ALL the money you donate goes to the charity, no middle men, no debit card charges to be deducted - it all goes to help Beat Blood Cancers. And the other good thing? You don't need to have cash now; Pledgeit won't take your money until I have completed the challenge and made a right wally out of myself! Then, and only then will your pledge be taken. Refreshing, isn't it?

As an added incentive to get your hand in your pocket if I have pledges of at least £200.00 by Saturday 25 May I'll also run Oldham parkrun (or any other parkrun event to be decided) in the costume - extra embarrassment.

  1. You need to borrow a tutu? I have a fetching little number with matching pink leggings...
